  GETTING DOWN TO BUSINESS
  Best Guidebook for Business Travellers

  FODOR'S CITYGUIDE (series)

Here’s the nightmare: You’ve got a business meeting scheduled for 2 p.m. It’s 1:45 and no matter how much page flipping you do, you can’t find a map in your guidebook to show you the way. If you had the Fodor’s Cityguide, you’d be there in no time. Not only are the opening pages chock full of maps, but the information for each chapter – including restaurants, shopping, hotels and places to explore – was compiled by local experts. Znaimer felt that this guidebook could really make "an out-of-towner feel like a local."

Runner-up:
CADOGAN GUIDES (series)

Founder of some of Canada’s most innovative television stations – MuchMusic, Citytv, Bravo, to name a few – Moses Znaimer now acts as chairman and executive producer of Access Media Group.

  ADVENTURES ARE US
  Best Guidebook for Adventurers

  FODOR'S GOLD GUIDES (series)

The adventurer is always on the lookout for the road less travelled. But it’s not always that easy to figure out how to lose the crowds. That’s why Fodor’s Gold Guides are considered classic. They are full of restaurant and hotel listings for every budget and offer a good overview of things to do – on and off the beaten path. After reading this winner, Stackhouse said, "There are enough tips that you know that the writers have been around more than once."

  HIP HOPPING
  Best Guidebook for Jet-setters

  KNOPF MAPGUIDES (series)

Life must be fabulous when you’re city hopping around the world and mingling with the A-list. It is. But you still need to know where to snag that dress that J.Lo wore and how to find that sumptuous hotel featured in *Surface. As Beker put it, "We need our hot travel tips tout de suite. The Knopf MapGuides deliver." Small enough to tuck into your Prada bag and cool enough to be seen in public, this guidebook singles out the best addresses in the city. The cleverly designed foldout maps also scored high points with our judges.

"They’re imaginative and exciting, and they allow parents to explore through their children’s eyes," says Ehm.   HEAD OF THE PACK
  Best Overall Guidebook

  KNOPF MAPGUIDES (series)

Almost everyone agreed that this is the guidebook for the all-around traveller. The selection of hotels, restaurants and attractions is well edited; you’re thankfully spared all the blah-blah but given the key addresses. And the foldout neighbourhood-by-neighbourhood maps scored high on the ingenuity scale – no more need to cross-reference with listings; it all comes on the same page. Bright, stylish, small and easy-to-navigate, Knopf MapGuides understand how to appeal to travellers.

Judges
